It may be your first time commissioning a script for your project, or maybe one of your past projects didn’t fully realize your ideas.  Whatever the reason, you want to know more about providing feedback on a script, and our Lead Content Developer, Andy, is here to help.  Andy will explain effective methods for giving script notes, so your writer is in the best position to execute your vision.

The first thing you want to do is to make sure you are familiar with script formatting.

When you’re ready to provide notes, try to make them clear and concise. Avoid vague phrasing such as “I don’t like the way that is worded.” Instead, be specific about what you don’t like. Maybe “that wording sounds confusing to me, can we word it like this instead?”

Remember: the script is a blueprint, and specifics help the writer maintain the integrity of that blueprint while executing your vision. Notes like “Please use this line at the end, as it’s our company slogan.” is very specific, and very helpful.

Finally, try to limit the number of people making contact with the writer. One person should compile and streamline your organization’s feedback to try to head off any contradictory or confusing notes. This simple step is often overlooked, and has a huge impact on the efficiency and turnaround of the writing process.

At AMP, our job is to make your scripts and videos into the best possible version of your idea. Script notes are an essential part of that process, and adopting these simple techniques helps us deliver exactly what you’re looking for. So reach out to us today and let AMP bring your ideas to life.
